Reason #16: Because one really shouldn’t hope one has a tumour

Filed under: reason — Easy @ 9:00 am

I harbor a secret (well, not so secret anymore) hope that one day my doctor will discover that I’m not actually astoundingly fat, I just have one of those giant, benign tumours in my abdominal cavity. They will take out the 25-plus pound monstrosity and I will instantly be thinner.

Sadly, I had an ultrasound to screen for potential gall bladder issues just a few months ago, and I have a feeling that if there was a giant tumour, it would have shown up.

  1. I worked with a woman who had such a thing removed from her abdomen. I had been working there just a few months, and to be honest, when I first started working, I thought she might be pregnant. But I would never assume something like that. I’m not the smallest person in the world either.

I’m not sure how it all happened, but she somehow ended up in the ER, where they discovered the tumor was 36 lbs. She had not been to a doctor in over 10 years. She left the job and was required to undergo counseling for her “life-changing event” as they called it. Although, I’m pretty sure the counseling was required due to the fact that she ignored her health for over 10 years.
