Vacation Update

Filed under: progress — Easy @ 11:47 pm

My vacation was slightly a disaster for my chains, but then, a lot of my goals are kind of home specific. I automatically give myself checkmarks for things like 15 minutes of cleaning and keeping my drawers closed that I simply can’t do when away from home. There’s no point in beating myself up over them and it would be silly to break the recorded chains when I wasn’t even home.

I mostly did my PT exercises, or at least those I could do without access to the yoga ball.

On the other hand, I try to maintain things like wall standing and water drinking and writing and other things I can do away from home, and that I didn’t manage so well.

I missed wall standing on two days in a row. I skipped writing every day that I was in Vancouver (though, I wrote a lot on the plane in both directions so I’m not feeling terrible about that). Yesterday was my flight home and I missed all kinds of things.

I did go out of my way to get in my 3 glasses of water and tooth brushing yesterday, though, as those are some of my longest chains. I think that’s a good sign that I do value the chains enough to keep them up where I can.

I have a few weeks at home, now, so hopefully I can get those chains back on track where they belong.

  1. You were in Vancouver?!
Figures, it was right when I was out of town in Seattle for several days. =P

(Don’t feel too bad, vacations are hell for trying to be good. I exercised my first day out, but didn’t have nearly enough room in my hotel to do much. besides, I walked a lot. That counts. Really…)

  2. Fwiw, I’m in Vancouver a fair bit. My parents live in Prince George, my brother in Vancouver, and I’m in Toronto, so Vancouver is sort of a natural midpoint that I can fly to and they can drive to, and we all have a place to stay.

I’ll be sure to let you know next time I’m going to be in town, perhaps we can have an impromptu Moot.

  3. Oh, cool! I can at least offer you lunch or something – my boss has connections with about half the restaurants in town. =)
